Adjusting Your Social Media Strategy During a Pandemic
Odds are all the plans you had for your spring social media strategy quickly went out the window once COVID-19 hit. The good news is you’re not alone — businesses are being impacted in a variety of ways.
Most likely those fun, spring-y, and social driven posts aren’t really relevant to the current climate, so now what?
Comb through your upcoming content calendars, and take out anything that is not longer relevant. If you need to scale back on posting, that’s ok. Once you go through your content and make sure everything makes sense, you need to figure out how you can create content that is going to be useful, beneficial, and/or entertaining to your audience.
If your business is being severely impacted due to coronavirus, it’s better to be transparent with your audience. Tell them what is going on, #WeAreAllinThisTogether. If you can only post once or twice a week, that’s ok! Just make sure you’re getting something out there so your audience knows you’re still trying to get through this like everyone else.
If you’re lucky enough to have a business that can be beneficial or entertaining during these times - lean into that. Offer discounts and free shipping when applicable, offer surprise and delights to healthcare workers, followers who have lost their jobs, first responders, etc. Help out where you can!
Those are a few of my thoughts on how to easily adjust your social media strategy during this pandemic, but there is so much more! If you’re in need of help right now please send me an email and we can get started! 📧: merelychicsocial@gmail.com
